GLOBAL SYSTEM SERVICES ANNOUNCES BREAKTHROUGH E-MAIL MANAGEMENT TOOL FOR BROKER-DEALERS

Solves Major Problem in Management of Regulatory Compliance Issues Related to E-mail

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA/ORLANDO, FL, JANUARY 28, 2003—Global System Services Corporation (“GSS”), a leading electronic messaging and groupware firm, today launched GSS E-mail Manager (GEMM) at Lotusphere 2003 in Orlando Florida (Booth #615). The new software product provides much needed functionality for broker-dealer compliance professionals and IT departments.

SEC and NASD regulations related to e-mail have dramatically increased the burden of e-mail management on broker-dealers. Securities firms are facing new technical requirements for e-mail management while the volume of e-mail continues to increase along with the workload falling on limited IT and compliance resources.

Regulators have focused increasingly on e-mail and major securities firms have been substantially fined in matters relating to e-mail. In the past, firms archived e-mail but today compliance professionals must be proactive in reviewing an increasing volume of e-mail for a growing number of reasons. Traditional e-mail archiving and surveillance tools are no longer adequate.

GEMM allows compliance professionals to easily manage, search, analyze, and review large numbers of e-mail messages selected for inspection for various reasons. GEMM specifically addresses the user interface and message management needs of compliance professionals.

“GEMM solves a real problem in terms of usability and features designed specifically for compliance professionals,” said Ron Herardian, Managing Partner at Global System Services Corporation. “By deploying GEMM our customers can reduced their overall technology cost for managing regulatory compliance issues related to e-mail,” said Herardian. GSS works closely with major financial firms.

GEMM will ship first for IBM Lotus Domino in Q1 2003 followed by other platforms in the second half of the year. Pricing has not yet been determined.
