If you're running DB6 on NetWare,
you might want to take a look at the GSS
automated maintenance procedure. It has the following features:
1. Generic design using variables: just fill in the blanks and it
works.
2. Comments explaining requirements for use
3. Pre and post ANALYZE
4. Optional abort or error override with pre-ANALYZE errors
5. Runs NPODOWN
6. On-screen reporting for each major function
7. Multiple diagnostic levels
8. Running log of all output
9. Reports e-mailed to multiple recipients
10. Configurable FROM address
12. Deliver report even when procedure exits on error
12. Reports when pre-ANALYZE are corrected by maintenance
13. Urgent report message status on error
The procedure, AUTOCRx, is part of the GSS Automation Kit for cc:Mail
(GAK 1.1).
FYI - the other equally feature-full procedures do the following:
1. NFT error checking (AUTONFx)
2. Daily ANALYZE (AOUTOANx)
4. Super CCSAVE routine (AUTOCSx)
Next year we will be providing an installer, DB8 support, and ports
to native NT
and OS/2 batch languages. A stand-alone Windows binary (intended for
implementation as an NT service) is being discussed.
I believe there are evaluation copies of everything on the GSS ftp
server
(ftp.gssnet.com) or via World Wide Web (http://www.gssnet.com), as
well as on
CompuServe LOTUSM.
We have customers using these procedures but if you run across any
problems,
feel free to contact me directly.

Version 5.12 of ccMail has a recommended automated
maintenance routine in it. I
am presently in the "flame test mode" of an automated ccMail
routine. You can
call the routine through "Gatelink" and the call table.
